Majlis Pernikahan Aida - Rahim

I would like to congratulate both Aida and Rahim for the solemnization of their marriage held in Masjid Ulu Kinta. Thank you for inviting us and letting us help to document this new beginning of your lives. I wish both of you happiness and joy living life together while building a strong foundation for your new family.

For the sake of those non-Muslim friends who are new to this wedding rites like me, I would like to briefly share it with you.

The ceremony starts with the Tok Kadi – an elder administering the registration, discussing with the groom about his obligations with his soon to be wife and family.

The groom sits near the center in front of the Tok Kadi while the bride sits behind him, watching and listening on the discussion among the elders of both side of the family. It is nice to observe how the men from both sides, mostly heads of the family gather in front and make a round formation while witnessing the solemnization, while most of the women sit near behind them with the bride. I felt so much respect for these guys as they have so much authority in dealing with their families.

After the Tok Kadi, the father of the bride then sit in front of the groom while he, the groom, will present his dowry and his family’s offering for the family of the bride. The last time I heard of giving dowry to bride’s family was during my history class in high school. After a few decades, I am witnessing the actual enactment of this wedding.

The father of the bride, in behalf of the Tok Kadi, will then proceed with the solemnization of the wedding. Prayers will follow after solemnization and then the wishing off of the newly blessed couple by selected friends and relatives.

Prayers were often during the solemnization, showing a very strong faith in Allah
All smiles after the father of the bride finally accepted the offerings from the groom

Friends and relatives want to be part of the event as they snap photos on all angles

Once again, congratulations to Aida and Rahim. Wish you all the best in life. Insya Allah!!
