Mystic Tasik Dayang Bunting

After having a hearty dinner in a restaurant along Cenang Beach, we passed by to a travel agent who offers island hopping and boat tour. We checked on some brochures and decided to try on a package which will lead us to the mystic Tasik Dayang Bunting, a boat tour to witness eagle feeding, and to the pristine Pulau Beras Basah.

The trip first took as to the mystic Tasik Dayang Bunting. Mystic I would say because there was said to be a legend surrounding this place. Later you will find out.

Approaching the island is a concrete docking station

Normally, the boatmen will spare an hour for the visitors to explore the area. It is a huge place that I personally think that one hour is not sufficient to explore it. At any rate, it was really a very relaxing geo-forest park.

I didn't realize monkeys love to swim too

The way going inside the island is guarded by a group of monkeys. Actually, they are not there to welcome the visitors but to snatch every plastic bag they thought contain food. So beware when going there as you could be a victim of these little rascals.

The lake hiding inside the island
After a few ups on downs on the hilly island, the lake finally showed up.

Now this is where the legend starts. This is a lake, also called the Pregnant Maiden Lake, located  inside the island that was said to be miraculous in a way that any barren women that wanted to have child, then able to drink or bathe in a lake can be blessed with a child she wanted. And if looking from afar, from the photo below, the island formation looks like a pregnant lady lying down.

I tried to swim on the lake. The water is a bit warm but refreshing. However, I find it more dense that I put extra effort keeping myself afloat. A bit more tiring when compared swimming in a river or in a sea.

It is a very beautiful place and highly recommended to visit if you are going to Langkawi.
