Senangin Beach Escapade

It was like going to drizzle the time we're travelling towards Senangin Beach - some kilometers on the right side of Lumut if you're coming from Ipoh. We thought the trip will be ruined by the unpredictable weather in Malaysia.

this is how the morning looks like when we got to the beach

We arrived in mid-morning. The sky was a little cloudy, the sea was not cold and it was very calm. Hhhmm... nice to dip in the water while the sun is hiding under the thick white clouds. Or perhaps, better to take some good photos while it's in the golden hour.

I quickly grabbed my toy, walked around the shoreline to see some unusual but interesting subject that would catch my attention.

This photo is a very interesting one. I would like to interpret this as a person, in his retiring age, after many years of being active and useful, is now resting and waiting for his sunset.

broken old chair resting under the bright blue sky

Then headed back to where the true fun was, I shoot the guys on their lively and joyous mood, Well, it's very seldom we can see this bonding moments and these happy faces inside the office or at work.

It was such a wonderful day for us. We enjoyed every moment out there laughing, swimming, eating and having a good time. Though some of the guys have to leave on the same day,  the rest including me, stayed there for an overnight fun. And before we parted ways, it would be a natural thing to get another shot of this wonderful place in Perak.

Say cheese!!!

My First Nikon Event

I AM NIKON --- It was the month of June, 2012 when I attended my very first (and only) Nikon event. That was only a few months after I bought my first DSLR,  a Nikon D3100. And so, like a child excited with his first toy, I, with some of my work colleague, rushed to the event location to check what this photoshooting event was all about. It was held in Taman DR, Ipoh by the way.

Prior to this, we had to register online if we want to attend so we can grab souvenir items such as shirts and car stickers from the said event. I think only Nikon Club Mal could do such a favor to their members. I checked once the Nikon Club Phil and they are collecting fees from members if they want to attend such events. Well, I guess NCM is more generous as they have bigger number of members that patronize their products.

Ok, there were five models to shoot at - with their own antics and colorful dresses to make it livelier.
At first, I was a bit hesitant to get my toy out of the camera bag when I saw those long and big lenses most of the photographers have. I was completely overwhelmed!

Nevertheless, I took my entry-level camera and start shooting as if I really know what I was doing. After a few shots, I checked my LCD to view my initial shots. OMG! They were either overexposed - maybe due to strong sunlight, or out of focus and blurred - maybe due to my shaky hands. With the help of some "pro", and with the borrowed lens from a friend - I only had a kitlens that time, I start shooting again hoping to get better shots. Whew!!!

Overall, I had a nice time and experience with this event organized by NCM-Perak. Hopefully I will be prepared the next time they hold an event here.

Rediscovering Lubuk Timah

I can't help but admire this very beautiful view of an abandoned reservoir. The place is called Lubuk Timah which is situated near Simpang Pulai. The dam is almost abandoned that the water spills over it, thus creating a curtain-like waterfalls on the center and stairs-like waterfalls on both sides that create a very refreshing view to watch, and cold white water for bathing.

Going there at first is bit confusing as the signs for directions are so small and the road is unnoticeable, not to mention that they are rough too.

The waterfalls are a few hundred meters away from the road where you can park your car and the pathway going there is kind of muddy and rocky at the same time.

I enjoyed taking a bath under the strong current and painful but relaxing hit of waterfalls in my skin the first time we went there. And so I took another trip alone this time to capture its beautiful and marvelous images. Please note that it is not advisable going here alone as the place is secluded and the water is treacherous at times.

What a perfect getaway to refresh and relax, get some beers and barbecue. A very beautiful scenery's for photo enthusiasts, and wonderful place for families to enjoy the weekends.

Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan

Situated in the center of Hilir Perak, Teluk Intan (meaning Diamond Bay) has its own version of the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.

This town's main attraction was built by Leong Choon Cheong, a chinese builder, and it started to tilt four years after its construction due to underground stream.

Unfortunately, we neither have enough time to go inside the tower nor to other places as it was already in late afternoon and it rained so hard that we had to remain on our location and wait for it to stop. While waiting for the rain to stop, I had a conversation with a local guy and told me there are still something other than this pagoda.

The rain has stop, and the sky was almost dark. Two of my companions already left as they had prior commitments. Now what are we going to do?

Someone had told us that this tower is lighted up at night and create an amazing night view. And so we waited for a few hours before we experienced a fascinating view of Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan.

Hope to get back there soon and check on the other places the local guy had told me.

See you again Teluk Intan!!!
